The national federation’s own event in the city is the Copa Revolución, an international open; the federation’s page sets its fourteenth edition at the Hotel del Prado for 11 to 16 November 2026, nine rounds of classical chess rated by FIDE. Around it runs a season of shorter events: the Circuito de Ajedrez Aztlán with stages at Pilares centres, museums and the Monumento a la Revolución, the Circuito Suburbano at the cultural centre of the Buenavista suburban-train station, the Abierto de Tlalpan with blitz, rapid and classical sections, and the university games of UNAM in Ciudad Universitaria.
In the State of Mexico most recurring events are rapid opens: Tablerazo in Ciudad Satélite, the mixed rapid of Los Reyes Ixtacala in Tlalnepantla, El Mictlán in Ecatepec and the eastern valley league in Valle de Chalco. The municipal police of Tlalnepantla hold a peace tournament, and the Sportchess series plays at the FES Cuautitlán campus. Huixquilucan runs a tournament for secondary-school pupils through its schools. Halls and dates shift from one edition to another, and the organiser’s page is where each edition is fixed.
