Much of Mexico City’s evening chess is blitz. El Peón Molesto organises blitz nights in cafés and bars, among them a nine-round event on Calle Puebla in Roma Norte and a double round robin at the Calavera Time Café; Sabores del Valle gives its Thursdays to blitz and coffee; and the Menu Speciale tournament in Colonia del Valle plays seven rounds at three minutes plus two seconds a move.
Clubs add their own: the Club de Ajedrez Cuauhtémoc, Club Iztacalco, Ajedrez Salida with its Iron Chess evenings, Jaque Descubierto, and the club of the Comité Olímpico Mexicano, which has called a blitz affiliation tournament at its seat in Lomas de Sotelo. The Abierto de Tlalpan includes a blitz section beside its rapid and classical ones. Most of these are single evenings in a numbered series, and each organiser posts its own dates.
