Cafés with chess nights in and near Mexico City 3

More on this list

Café chess in Mexico City mostly means blitz. Sabores del Valle hosts a run of Thursday events that pair blitz with coffee, organised from the account behind the El Peón Molesto club. The Calavera Time Café on Avenida Té in Granjas México, in Iztacalco, has held blitz evenings over more than one season, a double round robin among them. North of the city, the Hi Fi Café in Plaza Millenium, Tlalnepantla de Baz, has hosted open rapid tournaments.

These are events held in a café, not a standing chess corner, and on other days the boards may not be out. Each café card shows the dates of the events found, and the organiser’s tournament page is where entry details appear. For casual games in a bar, the Knightcap group has held evenings in Roma Norte and is listed among the places to play.
